Terms of Service

Effective May 17, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Open Ink, a journaling app built by Andre Henderson (the "developer", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

Who can use Open Ink

You must be at least 13 years old to use Open Ink.

You may use the app only in compliance with these Terms and applicable law.

Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and contact us.

One account per person. You may not share access to your account.

Your content

Journal entries, mood, tags, and your "About you" note are yours. You retain ownership of everything you write. You grant us a limited license to store, encrypt, transmit, and process your content as needed to provide the app — and to send relevant portions to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the prompts, feedback, and reflections you request. We do not sell your content. We do not train AI models on your content. We never display your content to anyone outside your account.

AI-generated output

Reflection prompts, journal feedback, and weekly synthesis are produced by an AI model. AI output can be wrong, vague, or unhelpful. Don't rely on anything Open Ink generates as medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or professional advice. If you're in crisis, contact a professional or an emergency service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app to break the law or someone else's rights.
• Attempt to access another user's account or content.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service.
• Submit content that violates intellectual-property or privacy rights.

Subscriptions and billing

Open Ink is free to install. Optional subscriptions unlock additional features. Subscriptions auto-renew through your Apple ID until cancelled.

Manage or cancel any time from iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple per their policies.

Service changes

We may add, change, or remove features. We'll try to give notice when changes meaningfully affect existing functionality, but small iterations ship without warning.

Account termination

You can delete your account any time from inside the app (Profile → pencil → gear → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent and removes all entries.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or threaten the safety of the service or other users.

Disclaimer

Open Ink is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from data loss. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Open Ink is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept it.
